Legendary Sunil Gavaskar believes India will emerge as a 'sporting country' within 10-15 years, praising the feats of Neeraj Chopra, R Praggnanandhaa, and HS Prannoy. Chopra recently secured India's first gold at the World Athletics Championships, while Praggnanandhaa reached the World Cup final at just 18 years old. Prannoy's World Championships bronze, including a victory over world No. 1 Viktor Axelsen, further showcased India's sporting prowess.

Gavaskar, named the principal advisor of Midwicket Stories, highlighted the growing diversity of sports coverage, leading to the rise of new stars. He expressed his joy witnessing Chopra's triumph in Budapest and recalled his elation during the Tokyo Olympics when he sang 'Mere desh ki dharti sona ugle...' while in England.

Gavaskar predicted that India's evolving exposure to various sports would shape it into a prominent sporting nation like the United States and Australia. He noted the significance of Chopra's achievements in motivating others to pursue javelin throwing.
The cricket icon expressed optimism about Praggnanandhaa's potential, envisioning a future filled with accolades for the young chess prodigy.

Gavaskar emphasized the importance of considering Sri Lanka's formidable presence in the Asia Cup, beyond the classic India-Pakistan rivalry. He declined to pick World Cup semifinal favorites, focusing solely on India's performance.
Regarding player workload management, Gavaskar stressed the significance of allowing players with minor injuries to rest to prevent aggravation. He highlighted the role of players and physiotherapists in understanding their bodies and making informed decisions about recovery.
