DD on track to get a good team.

Delhi Daredevils has always been the traditional whipping boys of IPL. They have always failed to live up to their potential and fans expectation. Last year, with Dravid as coach, Delhi opted for a strategy of playing young talents in batting. It didn't end too well for them. This year, with Ponting as coach, DD has taken a much more formal approach to team building.
It had retained two quality Indians in Risabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer. Morris was the only foreigner retained. in the auction, DD retained two quality pacers in Shami (RS 3 cr) and Rabada (Rs 4.2 cr) by using RTM. They also went for big batting buys and managed to get probable captain Gautam Gambhir, Maxwell, in form Colin Munro and Jason Roy. Vijay Shankar and Prithvi Shaw are excellent buys and will give great stability to Delhi batting line-up. Tewatia and Mishra are pretty decent spinners to have in the squad. DD so far has got 15 players and has still a purse of Rs 12 crore left.
DD can already make a decent team from those acquired on Day 1, but it would surely like to get some handy players onboard on day 2 to increase the bench strength. A back-up keeper for Pant can be handy in a long session. Can Gautam Gambhir win a IPL for his home city at the twilight of his career? They have certainly taken a strong step in that direction on Day 1 of the auction.
Here's the team so far:
