After the first Asia Cup 2023 match between India and Pakistan got called off after Team India’s batting due to heavy rains, fans are dreading yet another spell of downpour in Sri Lanka which can lead to the India vs Pakistan clash in Super 4 being delayed.

The much-awaited IND vs PAK Super 4 clash in Asia Cup 2023 is set to take place on September 10, just as monsoons continue in Sri Lanka. However, the weather department of the neighbouring country has issued an important forecast ahead of the epic cricket battle.

Now, the Sri Lanka MeT department has said that the weather on the day of the much-awaited India vs Pakistan clash in the Asia Cup 2023 is set to be conducive for cricket, and that the match is expected to be uninterrupted by rains this time.

Athula Karunanayake, the Sri Lanka Meteorological Department director-general, told PTI TV on Wednesday that the rainfall predictions state that heavy rains will subside after September 9, meaning that the IND vs PAK match can go ahead as scheduled.

“During this time of the year, which is the end of the southwest monsoon period, the southwestern part of Sri Lanka receives more rainfall. In the last two weeks, we witnessed more rain in the western province. The western province could receive a bit of rain, but after September 9, it would be sunny and cloudy but with very little rain,” he said.

The weather expert further said that a few light showers are expected in the coming days but the monsoons are expected to fully subside by September 17, the day the Asia Cup 2023 final will be played.

As per the current schedule, if not encumbered by rain, the India vs Pakistan Super Four clash will take place on September 10, according to the Asia Cup 2023 fixtures.
