Team India extended their second innings lead by 59 runs in the first session on Day 4 of the fourth Test against England at the Oval, however, the session belonged to the hosts as they took three wickets including the big one of Indian skipper Virat Kohli, who looked good for his 44 before Moeen Ali got him to edge one to the slips.

Ravindra Jadeja and skipper Kohli were able to negotiate the first nine overs getting the lead to almost 200 well as both had their eyes in and had hit a couple of boundaries to get the scorecard running. However, a Chris Woakes burst ruined India's plans to score quickly as he took two wickets in two overs. He first dismissed Jadeja getting him caught on the crease and trapping him LBW and did the same a couple of overs later with Ajinkya Rahane, whose poor form in this series continued as he got out for a duck.

As the pitch was flat, Rishabh Pant too took his time and wasn't looking in any sort of hurry especially given Virat Kohli was set at the other end. Kohli continued on his merry runs smashing a couple of boundaries more before another outside edge resulted in his downfall.

A fuller ball from off-spinner Moeen Ali outside the off-stump and Virat Kohli brought the bat down late and the slip fielder Craig Overton caught it easily as India had now lost three wickets in the session.

Rishabh Pant's solid defence a couple of boundaries from first-innings hero Shardul Thakur meant India reached 329/6 at lunch with four wickets still in the bag.
