The Centre has issued dire warning to central government employees who have planned 'all India protest day' on Wednesday with several demands. The demands include better pay, the scrapping of the contributory pension scheme among others. Today's protest call has been given by National Joint  council  of Action (NJAC).

However, the government is in no mood to let employees get away with a protest strike. DoPT in a circular on Tuesday citing service rules have asked employees not to take part in mass casual leave exercise. It has asked officers not to sanction any casual leave of their reportees during the period of protest. According to DoPT, there is no provision for employees to go on strike.

Divisional heads have also been asked to submit report of employees absent on the day of the protest. In a way, Centre has taken a very tough stance and it is left to be seen, how employees react to the circular.
