Rupee appreciates to Rs45.28 per dollar in early trade

Forex dealers said dollar weakness against the euro and other currencies overseas and a higher opening in the stock market mainly kept the rupee sentiment firm against the American dollar.

The Indian rupee appreciated by 4 paise to Rs45.28 per dollar at the Interbank Foreign Exchange today, supported by a higher opening in the stock market and dollar weakness against the euro and other Asian currencies.

The rupee had declined by 11 paise to close at a three-month low of Rs45.32/33 against the US currency in yesterday's trade amid weakness in domestic equities and dollar demand from importers.

Forex dealers said dollar weakness against the euro and other currencies overseas and a higher opening in the stock market mainly kept the rupee sentiment firm against the American dollar.

Meanwhile, the Bombay Stock Exchange Sensex was up by 137.70 points at 17,984.94 in opening trade today.
