Ratan Tata and his family has been heading the Tata Group to major profits for several years, and now, his younger brother Noel Tata has decided to launch another venture through his company Tata Trent. The new venture is a traditional Indian clothing brand called Samoh.

Noel Tata’s company Tata Trent has decided to launch Samoh, which showcases designer traditional wear at reasonable prices. The new brand Samoh has opened its first store in Hazratganj in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh and is expected to spread across the country.

Noel Tata, Chairman of Tata Trend was quoted as saying at the launch of Samoh, “We are thrilled to announce the launch of Trent's premium occasion wear concept Samoh today. Samoh's range draws inspiration from traditional roots and blends it seamlessly with modern aesthetics. Samoh will undoubtedly provide a compelling touch of luxury and sophistication to our customers, while they shop for their special moments in life.”

This company headed by Rata Tata’s brother is expected to give tough competition to Manyavar, which is the most popular name in traditional wear; and Reliance Trends headed by Isha Ambani, which is the leading brand for affordable fashion.

It must be noted that the Tata Group already has multiple clothing brands, but has decided to launch Samoh with a new traditional Indian clothing venture. Noel Tata’s Tata Trent was established in 1998 and has several store brands such as Westside, Trent Hypermarket, Landmark Stores, and Zudio.

While people usually opt for Manyavar or Fabindia when it comes to shopping for Indian festivals and special occasions, Noel Tata is bent on establishing Samoh as one of the leading brands in the traditional Indian wear space. Currently, Tata Trent’s overall revenue is over Rs 2000 crore.

Further, Reliance has also bought major stake in the luxury fashion designer label of Manish Malhotra, securing their space in the clothing industry.
