News Corp moves James Murdoch to New York role

James Murdoch's newly created role will have him move to New York from London and continue to report in to News Corp's deputy chairman and chief operating officer Chase Carey.

News Corp on Wednesday said it has appointed James Murdoch as deputy chief operating officer and chairman and chief executive of international operations in a move that could mark him as the eventual successor to his father, Rupert.

James Murdoch's newly created role will have him move to New York from London and continue to report in to News Corp's deputy chairman and chief operating officer Chase Carey.

Murdoch was already CEO of News Corp's international operations out of London.
