Sara Ali Khan to romance Akshay Kumar, Dhanush in double role for 'Atrangi Re'

Ever since the star cast of Aanand L Rai's Atrangi Re was announced, fans have been excited to see Sara Ali Khan opposite Akshay Kumar and Dhanush. Now, according to a report in Mumbai Mirror, Sara is all set to play a double role in the cross-cultural love story set in Bihar and Madurai which will see the actress romancing both Dhanush and Akshay. 

"While Atrangi Re is primarily a love story set in the heartland, laced with humour, the storytelling is in a zone the filmmaker has not attempted before. The screenplay follows a non-linear narrative of two romances from different timelines running in the parallel," a source was quoted saying.

"It’s a double role of sorts for Sara, the idea is to showcase the diverse sides of the actress. Akshay and Dhanush’s characters too have a special trait that separates them from the rest of the cast. Their appearances will be in sync with the way they act and react while a special look is being designed for Akshay," the source added.

The report further revealed that the film's principal shooting will begin in March with Sara and Dhanush and that Akshay will join from mid-April. On the work front, Sara's latest release opposite Kartik Aaryan, Love Aaj Kal, directed by Imtiaz Ali despite high expectations was not received well at the box office. The film had good collections because of its Valentine's Day release on day one but it has only managed to drop the collections after that.
