Starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the titular roles, Karan Johar's romantic drama Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani was released in the theatres on July 28 and received overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics and audiences for its strong performances, brilliant direction, and how it made a commentary on several social issues, without being preachy.
The film also turned out to be a huge box office success as it earned Rs 152 crore net in India and Rs 346 crore gross worldwide, becoming the fourth-highest grossing Hindi film of 2023 behind Shah Rukh Khan's action-packed entertainers Jawan and Pathaan, and Sunny Deol's sequel Gadar 2.
After nearly two months since its release, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani has finally started streaming on Prime Video India from Friday, September 22, as the streaming giant made the announcement on its social media handles, "love is here to take over in its most dramatic form! #RRKPKonPrime, watch now."
The romantic drama marks Karan Johar's return to direction after seven years since his last directorial was Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma's romantic drama Ae Dil Hai Mushkil released on Diwali in 2016. With his latest release, Karan has gone back to his roots with a family entertainer filled with a rollercoaster ride of emotions.
Also starring Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi, Jaya Bachchan, Aamir Bashir, Churni Ganguly, Kshitee Jog, Anjali Anand, Tota Roy Choudhury, and Namit Das in prominent roles, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, and Apoorva Mehta under their banner Dharma Productions.
