Eighteen days is all it has taken Jawan to cross the Rs 1000-crore mountain at the box office. The Shah Rukh Khan-starrer is now in elite company, having earned Rs 1004 crore worldwide. In the process, the film has also beaten the domestic collections of Gadar 2 and Pathaan, making it the highest-grossing Hindi film in the country. What’s impressive is that it is showing no signs of stopping.

Jawan earned Rs 14.95 crore net on Sunday, the 18th day of its release, giving it a very strong third weekend haul of Rs 34.80 crore. The film has now earned Rs 560 crore net in India, the highest-ever by a Bollywood film, beating SRK’ previous release Pathaan (Rs 543 crore) and Gadar 2 (Rs 522 crore). The Hindi version of Jawan has crossed Rs 500 crore now and is steadily heading towards the all-time mark of Pathaan (Rs 524 crore). The dubbed versions are also going strong with combined earnings of almost Rs 55 crore, the highest-ever for a Hindi film by a country mile.

Overseas too, Jawan has continued to perform well. The Atlee directorial has now earned Rs 1004 crore worldwide, becoming the second Shah Rukh Khan film to breach the 1000-crore mark after Pathaan, and only the third Hindi film ever to do so (the other being Aamir Khan’s Dangal). Jawan has earned just over $40 million (Rs 331 crore) overseas, the bulk of which has come from Europe, US, and the Middle East – territories traditionally strong for Shah Rukh.

Jawan, which marked Atlee’s Hindi debut, was also received favourably by critics. The film marks the Hindi debut of Nayanthara and also features Vijay Sethupathi, alongside Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Dutt in important cameos. The film is now already the second-highest-grossing Indian film of the year and if all goes well, should topple Pathaan (Rs 1050 crore) in less than a week.
