Sunny Deol-starrer Gadar 2 director Anil Sharma reveals who he would cast as Tara Singh from the young actors.
Anil Sharma is currently enjoying the blockbuster success of his latest release Gadar 2. The filmmaker recently picked who among the young actors can play the role of Sunny Deol’s Tara Singh in an interview.
In a recent conversation with Bollywood Hungama, when asked to name young actors whom he would have cast in the roles of Sakeena and Tara if it were to be made now, Anil Sharma said, “Koi to mujhe dikhta nahi (I don’t find anyone in the young lot). Bombay (Mumbai) mein toh nahi hai, south me phir bhi hai thoda play kar sakta Jr NTR jaisa koi banda kar sakta hai. Inki kuch image hai baki aur Bombay mein toh nahi kar sakta (I don't see anyone in Bombay. Maybe in the south, Jr NTR could play it; he has an image that could work).” However, he didn’t name anyone for the role of Sakeena.
Anil Sharma’s directorial Gadar 2 has created a stir at the box office. The movie has broken several box office records and is still running strong in theatres. Talking about the movie’s OTT release, the filmmaker told India.com, “People won’t get to watch Gadar 2 on OTT anytime soon, as the film is still in the theatres, it will start streaming after 6 to 8 months. Till then, so many people would have already watched the film in theatres, and so many have done so already… We’ve managed to excite the audience, and that’s the biggest success for the film.”
Gadar 2 is the direct sequel of the 2001 hit Gadar: Ek Prem Katha and Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel, and Utkarsh Sharma reprise their roles as Tara Singh, Sakeena, and Charanjeet in the movie. The film garnered much love and praise and has film has surpassed the domestic earnings of the Hindi version of KGF Chapter 2 and has become the third highest-grossing Hindi film in India behind Pathaan and Baahubali 2 (Hindi).
Meanwhile, According to reports, Anil Sharma’s next film is with his son Utkarsh Sharma. A source told Pinkvilla, “Anil Sharma had an idea for a film featuring Nana Patekar and Utkarsh Sharma for a while now, and following the success of Gadar 2, he is ready to take this film on floors. It’s currently in the pre-production stage and is expected to start rolling in November this year. It’s a commercial drama, and the filmmaker plans to shoot it in Mumbai, and Goa among other places.”
Jr NTR on the other hand, will be seen in Koratala Siva’s next Devara. The movie also stars Saif Ali Khan as an antagonist and Janhvi Kapoor as the female lead and is scheduled to release in 2024.
