Sushmita Sen’s last big screen outing was in 2010, when she was a part of the Akshaye Khanna-Anil Kapoor-starrer No Problem. It’s been a rather long hiatus for the former Miss Universe.

In an earlier interview, she had said that she has ‘started looking at scripts and was waiting for the right one’. We hear that the Main Hoon Na heroine has now zeroed in on one project, which will go on floors later this year.

Our source says, “Sushmita was approached for a movie that plays out in a small town in which her character is the protagonist. It’s a crime-based drama  set in Madhya Pradesh wherein she plays a tough cop.” Though she was offered the project earlier this year, she took her time before giving it a nod.

“Meanwhile, the film has changed hands — there’s a new director who will be on board. Sushmita, too, gave her inputs after she heard the narration. The makers decided to alter the script and make the necessary changes, post which, she gave a go ahead. The modalities are currently being worked out. Once that is done, she will sign on the dotted line,” adds the source.

An official announcement is likely to be made within a month’s time. We reached out to the actress for a comment, but she didn’t respond till the time of going to press.
