Jamnagar boy scores 499, makes it to top-13

A day after a court in A Jamnagar topped the state, making it to the top 13 in the list of students who scored 499 in Class 10 CBSE exams. It was a moment of pride for Aryan Jha, a student of Nand Vidya Niketan school in Jamnagar after he was featured in the list of toppers released by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

Another student to put Jamnagar on the list, Ayushi Shah from KD Ambani school scored 497 marks. She was featured in the list of top 97 students across the country. A total of 13 students all over India received 499/500 marks or 98.8 per cent.

The results declared Monday afternoon recorded an increase of neary 5 per cent in over all pass percentage. This year, 91.1 has been recorded as the pass percentage as against 86.07 per cent last year. Girls yet again outshined boys with 2.31 per cent.

Ashok Jha, father of Aryan Jha said, "I never imagined my son would top the boards. He studied on his own. While I would like him to join civil services, he wants to study medicine." His mother Dina Jha attributes his achievement to the hardwork and dedication he put in. "My son slept for good 10 hours, watched television and went out to play. He did not go to tuitions. He studied for just four hours but with complete concentration. He would not get up even for food."

Surender Sachdeva, principal, Delhi Public School, Bopal, said, "The schools average went up to a staggering 89.43 per cent with 390 students passing with distinction. Our school topper has scored 99.2 per cent followed by another student at 99 per cent. A total of 106 students passed with more than 95 per cent marks."

Lowdown

  • Highest number of unfairmeans cases were reported from Ajmer, total 59 cases followed by Chennai
  • A total of 343 students under children with special needs category passed out of 356 appeared from Ajmer region under which Ahmedabad falls. The pass percentage of such students was 96.5%. A total of 51 dyslexic, 6 autistic, 23 spastic, 48 virtually impaired, 25 hearing impaired and 205 orthopeadically impaired appeared from Ajmer region.
