With an overall pass percentage of 76.06, the Maharashtra SSC pass percentage this year is 7 per cent less than the previous year.

While students of most divisions have fared well, or even better than last year, Amaravati, which boasted a pass percentage of 86 last year, could muster only 45 per cent this year.

Sources attributed this fall to strict vigilance, which was claimed to be the reason for the falling pass percentage in the HSC results also.

Sources added that strict vigilance and lower pass percentage will be the trend in the years to come.
