State govt sets up special cell to curb cyber crime in Pune

Taking into account the growing cyber crimes, an internet monitoring cell has been set up in Pune. Over 46 cyber crimes pertaining to online banking have been recorded in the past few months which has prompted the government to form this cell.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, MLC Mohan Joshi said that home minister RR Patil, while responding to his query in the assembly session, revealed his plan to set up the internet monitoring cell in Pune.
Joshi said the registration of offences were being delayed for want of adequate number of trained officers. He said that the home minister stressed the need for imparting training to officers at cyber labs in the state.
Presenting an account of work done by him during the winter session of the state assembly, Joshi informed that he had raised issues of larger public interest through 52 starred and 10 unstarred questions. He moved 20 call attention motions which attracted the attention of the Upper House of the state assembly to sensitive and important issues. He also put before the House seven special mentions and six privilege motions. Joshi said that there was a need for creating roads for reaching the proposed airport at Chakan and Pune as well as Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporations need to be provided with special projects in this regard.
