PUNE
Pune Foodiez, a group of food enthusiasts, meet twice a month to share their experiences of new hangouts discovered
If you’re a foodie, food blogger, insta-foodie or just curious about anything in food, then we have news for you. Pune Foodiez, a group of passionate individuals who love their food, have been meeting up twice a month and to check out new and existing restaurants/ hangouts together and share their experience with others.
Deepali Jain, admin of the group is positive and enthusiastic of the idea. “Like-minded people who enjoy food formed this group. We get together, eat, discuss and review food. I see a lot of potential in this medium as it not only exposes you to different cuisines, but also introduces you to people with various concepts. I was never a twitter person, but these meets have helped me tweet more and stay connected with food virtually too,” said Deepali, who is currently working on a fixed schedule for the group.
Saurabh Khatri, proprietor of a group The Other Guys says, “We manage social media for The Brooklyn Shuffle Diner, Koregaon Park. We got a call from Shrinath (@MrShri) who expressed his desire to host this month’s Pune Foodiez meet-up here. The foodies come over to the place, check out the food that the place has to offer and tweet/ blog about their experience. Since The Brooklyn Shuffle Diner recently opened, we thought this sort of an activity would help spread a word around town, show people what the diner has to offer and help us earn valuable feedback.”
The meet-up was held on January 5 for which the Diner had a set menu put aside. The evening began with a round of drinks. Starters included chicken nuggets with honey mustard, barbeque wings, paneer and mushroom skewers and babycorn and cauliflower fritters. So the treat was for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. The main course had classic chicken burger, ham & cheese sandwich, crunchy potato burger & 3 cheese sandwiches. All served with generous portions of coleslaw and fries. For dessert, they served their signature cheesecake and apple crumble pie.
Another enthusiast from the group is Rohan Lilani a restaurant marketing consultant shared that the group is open to anybody who loves food. “As a group we meet once or twice, but internally a few of us catch up if there is a new dish to try or a new place to explore. We need to spread the word through social media,” added Lilani.
