Temperatures drops following rainfall in Delhi

The Safdarjung observatory recorded a maximum temperature at 29.4, which was five degrees below season's normal.

Delhi finally received some respite from heat with the rainfall lashing several parts of the city on Saturday morning. Both, maximum and minimum temperatures dropped down by a few notches. Weathermen have predicted more rain in the coming days.

The Safdarjung observatory recorded a maximum temperature at 29.4, which was five degrees below season's normal. The minimum temperature settled at three points below normal, at 23.5 degrees Celsius. The city received 25.5 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours, according to the meteorological department. Sky remained overcast with clouds, providing relief from heat, even as humidity touched 100 per cent.

The weather department has forecast moderate rain in the next two days. Sky will remain generally cloudy. Mercury will oscillate between 29 to 30 degrees Celsius as maximum temperature while minimum will be recorded between 23 to 25 degrees Celsius.

In the past week, the city has been lashed with heavy rain every alternate day, making the weather pleasant. On August 28, Delhi received 101 mm rainfall in 24 hours, which was the highest received in a day in August. It was also the highest in the month in the past three years. Mercury also dropped by few notches due to the rainfall. The maximum temperature settled at 32.7 degrees Celsius which was one degree below normal.
