Upcoming artist, Rupesh Patric, has found his creative space within Bangalore. With each passing year, his artworks, with charcoal as the base, have found quite a fan following. However, we recently discovered another side to this artist and software engineer’s personality — his involvement in social work.

Apart from regular visits to orphanages and active involvement with NGOs, Rupesh brings out a calendar every year in order to help raise money for the underprivileged.

“We launched our first calendar in 2009,  and at that time it was created for the benefit of Dream a Dream, a charitable organisation working with children. The result was quite encouraging, and therefore, we followed that with the 2010 calendar, which was made in the support of SnehaNilaya, a Bangalore-based orphanage,” he says.

Soon enough, this became an annual effort, and this year, the calender supports Asha Niketan. The NGO is a part of the international organisation L’Arche, which works for the benefit of the intellectually disabled. Asha Niketan was started in Bangalore in 1970 and provides residential and day care opportunities for adults and children with mental disabilities.

The calendar, Aashayein 2011, is priced at Rs500 per copy. An 80G tax exemption certificate will be issued with every purchase and can be customised for corporate and bulk orders. Do your bit!
