Another case of an Indian languishing in the Pakistani prison has come to light. It is believed that a person by the name of Jai Singh is imprisoned in Pakistan but the Ajmer police is not sure if the person belongs to the city.

The Ajmer Superintendent of Police have sought the information about Singh from the state government. The police have also updated the Rajasthan government on their progress in the matter.

The addresses of all the Pakistani prisoners, who had gone across the border due to unknown reasons and are imprisoned in Pakistani jails, are being searched around in the country. Ajmer’s Jai Singh has been unlucky as the police were unable to find his family.

It may be mentioned that Gajanand Sharma, who used to work as a labourer, went missing from Jaipur around 36 years ago.

Sharma’s family believed that he must have died until they received an inquiry in the month of May. Jaipur Rural SP Rameshwar Singh said that they had received an inquiry about Sharma from the police headquarters on May 1.

The Jaipur Rural Police had recently written to all police stations to verify 68-year-old Sharma’s identity. They had traced his family’s roots to Maharkalan village falling under Samod police station and later found that the family had moved to Brahmpuri area in Jaipur. The SP said that further investigation in the matter will be done by the Jaipur Police Commissionerate.

Sharma’s son Mukesh informed that they had given ration card as the identity proof to the police. The family is now hopeful that the state and central governments would intervene in Sharma’s safe return.
