Jaipur: 80 held for drunk driving, creating ruckus

While the city welcomed the New Year amidst much pomp and fanfare, elaborate arrangements had been made by the police department to ensure that the law and order is maintained and no disturbance in peace occurs as the people partied all through the night. 

Elaborate security arrangements ensured that strict action was taken against drunk driving offenders and the cops arrested more than five dozen people in various cases including drunk driving. 

Over a hundred people sustained injuries in various accidents, however, only two are said to be critical while one person died as a car overturned in Amber area of the city.

The Traffic Police had made elaborate arrangements to ensure that people do not consume alcohol and drive vehicles.

For the purpose the traffic police had issued advisory as well. Several teams were formed, to be spread across the city and various junctions, which conducted breath tests using breath analysers to see if any person has consumed alcohol and was found driving. 

In all the cops found over 200 people who were driving even after consuming liquor. 

Action against these men were taken under Motor Vehicle Act and even under Police Act. 

Teams were also formed by all police stations of  commissionerate which arrested 80 men for breaking peace or creating ruckus in various parts of city.

Meanwhile, several incidents of accidents, although minor, also occurred in the city and as a result 140 people reached the SMS emergency for treatment. 

According to officials, nearly four dozen individuals were admitted for treatment of which two men are critical.
