The glorious days of 8 Civil Lines, the official residence of Chief Minister are back again. Chief minister Ashok Gehlot went to the house on Tuesday morning along with his wife Sunita Gehlot to seek blessings at goddess Amba Temple situated inside the house.
He thereafter conducted meeting of the senior officials at 8 Civil Lines. These officials included chief secretary DB Gupta, senior IAS officer Kuldeep Ranka and OSD to CM Pradeep Borad.
The residence had been lying vacant since 2013 after Vasundhara Raje became the chief minister. She stayed in 13 Civil Lines and 8 Civil Lines was occasionally used for meetings of party legislatures.
Now as Gehlot has taken over as the CM, the house once again came alive with visitors and officials coming and security personnel remaining busy with managing the visitors.
On the other side all preparations were in place at CMO where the officials and security were expecting Gehlot to come. However, the entire day till Tuesday evening, Gehlot did not come and instead shuffled between his present residence 48 Civil Lines and 8 Civil Lines. At 48 Civil Lines he met many newly elected legislatures and party workers.
Some beautification in the form of new plants and flowers and other things have been done at 8 Civil Lines.
Meanwhile, deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot came to the secretariat on Wednesday. He went to various portions of the secretariat building and was shown the rooms for his probable office.
He first went to the first floor in the main building and looked at the old CMO corridor.
Rajpal Singh Shekhawat used to sit here till the time of demitting office and the floor was already made ready for inspection.
DOP secretary Bhaskar Sawant and PWD secretary Alok were also present with Pilot. A lot of washing and cleaning of walls and floor has been done since the past two days on this floor. This floor was used as CMO till the first tenure of Ashok Gehlot after which the new CMO building was made.
Former CM Bhairon Singh Shekhawat used to sit here. The floor, apart from having office of finance secretary, also has DOP secretary’s room.
Thereafter Pilot went to the CMO and spent sometime there. He also took a round of a floor in Mantralya Bhawan and after that left the secretariat.
