Geeta was brought back from Pakistan almost two years ago.
On Sunday, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj appealed to people to help Geeta, a deaf and mute Indian girl who was brought back from Pakistan in 2015.
Almost two years after she was brought back from Pakistan, authorities still haven’t been able to track her parents or relatives.
Swaraj said: “I announce that whoever helps us in finding Geeta’s parents will be given Rs 1 lakh as a reward.”
Geeta was 7 or 8-years-old when she was found sitting alone in the Samjhauta Express at Lahore station by Pakistan Rangers 15 years ago. She was then adopted by Bilquis Edhi of Edhi Foundations. Her story came to light after the release of Salman Khan- starrer "Bajrangi Bhaijaan", in which the character essayed by Salman reunites a Pakistani girl with her mother.
