A video explaining the steps that drivers can take in case they are issued a hefty fine over sidestepping traffic rules has gone viral on the internet. The video, made by a traffic policeman, Sunil Sandhu, explains how it is possible to sometimes pay only Rs 100 for a Rs 2000 worth challan.

The Delhi cop in his video clarified that there are a host of different penalties that are levied for not having the legitimate papers - Rs 2,000 for not having insurance documents, Rs 5,000 for the absence of license or registration certificate, and Rs 10,000 for missing pollution certificate.

But it's possible to pay only Rs 100 for these missing papers, in case the driver has merely forgotten to carry the documents.

 

 

Sandhu says that only in cases regarding penalties over missing papers, it is possible to approach the authorities and reduce the amount in the challan. After the issuing of challan, there is still 15 days' time for the violators to pay their due amount.

The policeman has said that even though the process might take some time, it will definitely help to save a significant amount of money. Sandhu's video has gone viral on social media and has already gathered 9.7 million views.
