The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams on Tuesday said that special darshan facilities for senior citizens, physically challenged people and parents with infants will remain prohibited keeping in mind the ongoing COVID-19 situation in the country.

After the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic last year, special darshan facilities for devotees who are senior citizens, physically challenged or parents with infants were stopped for them since March 20, 2020. However, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams has allowed the darshan of Lord Venkateswara to the devotees, barring the special darshan in view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Rejecting social media claims as fake, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams reiterated that revival of Special Darshan facilities for the above three categories of devotees is not possible as of now. The world-renowned Lord Venkateswara temple is thronged by 36 million devotees annually.

Earlier, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams started issuing Sarva Darshan tickets online for devotees to visit the Tirumala Tirupati temple from September 26. The number of tokens has been capped at 8,000 per day. Tirupati ticket booking online started on September 25. The 8,000 limit has been set keeping in view the health security of the devotees as well as the local people in Tirupati.

The TTD website specifically mentions that devotees will have to carry their vaccine certificate (2 doses) or COVID-19 negative certificate obtained within 72 hours of darshan. The devotees will also need to carry PAN card, Aadhaar card, Passport or Voter ID card.

It is also advisable that you carry a printed copy of your ticket.
