Branding a villager as police 'informer', suspected Maoists killed him in East Singhbhum district, police said today.
The body of the villager, who was shot dead late last night near his house at Kalapathar, was recovered this morning, police said here adding he was killed by suspected Maoists who branded him as an 'informer' to the police.
Police, however, denied that they had any links with the villager.
Meanwhile, the CPI (Maoist) today announced a 24-hour shut down from midnight in the East Singhbhum district alleging police atrocities in Chakulia and Gurabandha areas of the district.
