NEW DELHI: In a crucial development in the Noida twin-murder case, well-known social worker Usha Thakur claimed on Sunday Hemraj, the domestic help of prime accused Rajesh Talwar, had confided in her that "he feared for his life and that of some of his near and dear ones".

Dentist Rajesh was arrested on Friday for allegedly killing daughter Aarushi and Hemraj.

Usha, who had campaigned extensively for the victims of the Nithari killings, said Hemraj, who was found dead a day after the murder of 14-year-old Aarushi came to light, had met her on May 11.

"Hemraj said he had heard of my work for the families of the Nithari victims and thought I could help him too. It was a busy day for me, but he insisted he wished to speak to me separately. He said he wouldn't mind coming back a later day," Usha told DNA.
The social worker claimed Hemraj was very worried that day. However, he didn't take the names of Aarushi or anyone from the Talwar family.

Supporting police claims that it was Aarushi's father who was responsible for the domestic help's death, Usha said, "It's obvious Hemraj was scared of his employers. Why else would he tell me he feared for his life? Wouldn't he settle dispute, if any, with his employers himself?"

While the cops are yet to substantiate their sensational theories, sources in Noida Police said more arrests were possible in the coming days.

Earlier in the morning, the police conducted searches at the Noida sector 25 residence of the Talwars and confiscated the central processing unit (CPU) of 14-year-old Aarushi's computer from the room where she was found dead on May 16 morning. Later, they grilled Rajesh's wife Nupur and other members of the Talwar family for about an hour. Sources said the laptop of Rajesh was also being scanned.

"We have confiscated the CPU of Aarushi's computer for further probe. Our cyber experts will analyse the information stored. We have some more clarity in the case and more arrests are likely," a senior police officer said.

Police are also considering moving the court for a narco-analysis test on Rajesh, the officer said, adding that they would seek police remand of the accused.

Investigators claimed they had gathered "crucial evidence" to link Rajesh to the murders, such as entry of Aarushi's time of death as 2 am by the dentist at the temple in Hardwar where her ashes were immersed. The Talwars had claimed before the police that they found Aarushi's body at 6 am.

Meanwhile, Nupur, who had strongly come out in support of her husband on Saturday saying he was being "falsely implicated", and Rajesh's brother Dinesh visited him at Dasna Jail where he has been lodged since his arrest on Friday.

After meeting his brother, Dinesh said the family believed Rajesh to be "100%" innocent. "I have faith the truth will prevail," he told reporters.

Rajesh's bail application is likely to come up for hearing at a local court on Monday.
