Raisina Dialogue 2020: India's multilateral conference to address global issues kickstarts today

With the participation of over 100 nations, India's annual global conference on geopolitics and geoeconomics, known as the Raisina dialogue 2020 kickstarts today (January 14). The three-day event is jointly organised by the Ministry of External Affairs and the Observer Research Foundation.

This is the fifth edition of the Raisina Dialogue where global leaders in policy, business, media and civil society will be hosted in New Delhi to discuss cooperation on a wide range of pertinent international policy matters. The event has been India's contribution to discovering solutions, identify opportunities and provide stability to the international community that has witnessed two eventful decades.

Along with foreign ministers from 12 countries, including the foreign ministers of Russia, Iran, Australia, Maldives, South Africa, Estonia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Hungary, Latvia, Uzbekistan and the European Union, the National Security Adviser (NSA) of Afghanistan, the Deputy NSA of the United States and several other ministers of state will also present their ideas.

The Secretary-General of Shanghai Cooperation i.e. SCO and Secretary-General of Commonwealth will also be a part of the event.

Representatives from 104 nations are participating in this mega event from all over the world. A total of 30 chiefs of think tanks across the world will participate and share their views. Moreover, over 40% of the participants are women.

Raisina Dialogue 2020 will be attended by 700 participants from all over the world.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the inaugural session of the mega-event today while other visiting leaders will talk about important challenges facing the world related to globalisation, 2030 agenda, the role of technology in the modern world, climate change and counter-terrorism.

Starting today, the conference will continue till January 16. Over the course, 80 sessions will take place pertaining to five major subjects including 'The Nationalist Impulsive Challenge as Global Institutions and Collective Action', 'The Debate on the Global Trading Architecture', 'Role of Technology in Data Mining', 'Political Economic and Military Power', 'The Global Development Agenda and State Individual Relationships in the Age of Digital Communities and Cyberspace.'

This is the fifth year of Raisina Dialogue, and the way it is discussed worldwide, its credibility is reflected by the increasing participation of India in the diplomacy.
