He put his life at risk fighting for the country, but nowadays this jawan is battling a different sort of adversary -the apathy of the police force.

Nandlal Nisad (42), an army jawan, is a regular at the Amraivadi police station these days. For, he is trying to get the police to include the names of his mother's killers in the police complaint.

Nisad's mother Rachkala (60) was allegedly killed by a group of five people after she refused to give them 'Gutkha' for free in Amraivadi. Rachkala was hit on her head by these people on January 22, 2011. She later died on January 24, 2011.

Bholaram Nisad, her husband, too was allegedly assaulted by the group of five, who the jawan claims are part of the anti-social elements of the area.

Talking to DNA, Nandlal said, "My father named five people who were responsible for my mother's killing. But the police named only three in the FIR."

The three accused for the murder are Rajesh Rajput, Ashok Rajput and Pramod alias Pappu Rajput. But Nandlal and his father claim that two others Shivpujan Rajput and Santosh Rajput were also in the group that assaulted Rachkala. Police, meanwhile, have rejected the allegations.

Police inspector, Amraivadi police station, PS Goswami told DNA that there are only three accused in the case.

"However, if the complainant gives us the name of other people who they believe had a hand in the killings we will name them too. The three names were put in the FIR on the basis of the statement given by the deceased in the Civil Hospital," he said.

Nandlal was posted as a hawaldar and was deployed in Srinagar, Kargil, Punjab and Haryana during his stint in the army.
But now he is busy trying to get justice for his mother.
