Vindicating the reports by the country's intelligence agencies, Army chief General Bipin Rawat on Monday said Pakistan has revived the terrorist camps at Balakot, almost seven months after the Indian Air Force fighter jets destroyed the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) facilities there.

"Balakot has been reactivated by Pakistan very recently. That shows that Balakot has been affected. It had been damaged and destroyed. And that is why people have got a way from there and now it has been reactivated," said General Rawat while interacting with the media persons at the Officers Training Academy in Chennai.

"Though action had been taken by the Indian Air Force but now they have got the people back at Balakot," he said adding that nearly 500 terrorists are waiting across the Line of Control (LoC) to infiltrate into India.

When asked about the possible Indian response, General Rawat said, "Why must you expect repeat of a similar thing. Earlier we did something (cross border surgical strike after Uri attack) and then we did Balakot (response to Pulwama bombing), why must we repeat it? Why not keep the other side guessing as to what we will do? …Why not something beyond all this?"

Army sources also said that they are all prepared to respond to any kind of threat from Pakistan in all possible manners and their preparedness is at the optimum level.

The intelligence agencies have also put in place all systems in place to deal with possible terror threats during the upcoming festive season.

Army sources further added that the information on the reactivation of Balakot terror camps came four days ago and added that the level of the threat this time is far more "serious" than past several years during the time of festive season.
