A Gurgaon-based restaurant Lemp Brewpub and Kitchen trended on Twitter India on Tuesday after an anonymous blog post slammed it for cheating and misbehaving with a group of customers.

A visit to the restaurant for a Hawaiian Sunday Brunch turned out to be a nightmare for a group of youngsters who were mistreated by the restaurant management.

The blog post, called Lemp experience, alleged that the group of youngsters had gone to Lemp Brewpub and Kitchen after checking out Sunday brunch events listed on Zomato, a website that provides information on restaurants.

In the blog post, the group claimed, that they were not served Hawaiian food and were also asked to pay Rs12,000 for a brunch that was supposed to cost Rs999 per person.

The youngsters' nightmare didn't end there as the owner of the restaurant filed a case with the police against them.

In their blog post, the alleged victims also accused the police of siding with the restaurant owner. However, they have not taken any legal action yet. The blog post, which was not signed by anyone, has been shared by hundreds on Facebook and Twitter.

According to Lighthouseinsights, after the blog went viral, the user rating for Lemp Brewpub & Kitchen on Zomato fell to 1.3 from its earlier 3 point something.

While the restaurant management continues to maintain a stony silence on the issue, a blog post ‘People for Lemp’ by someone named Shruti was doing the rounds on Twitter.

However, both the blogs were later deleted.

Zomato too faced the heat with people on social media asking it to drop the restaurant from its list of eateries.

But Deepinder Goyal, founder of the food review website, in a blog post, clarified their stand on the entire incident.

"First things first, what has been written in the blog, should not happen to any customer. Doesn’t matter how the customer behaves in a restaurant/bar, it just shouldn’t happen. This is not the way hospitality businesses should treat their customers.

"What we think is that delisting Lemp would be the stupidest thing to do. Zomato is a neutral platform where consumers write about their opinions and we respect that. Our job is to tell our users if they should go to a particular restaurant or not. Delisting restaurants defeats that purpose. For restaurants which are very poorly rated, we want our users to see their ratings/reviews and decide not to visit that place," the post read.

When contacted, a restaurant staffer refused to comment on the episode.
