The Enforcement Directorate (ED) would be questioning Robert Vadra and his mother Maureen Vadra in Jaipur on Tuesday. Robert would face questioning in cases related to the purchase and sale of lands in Bikaner. Mother and son reached Jaipur on Monday afternoon, while Robert's wife Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was supposed to reach later in the day.
Questioning is to take place at the ED office in Jaipur on Tuesday morning. Sources say a list of 55 questions has been prepared to be posed to him. His counsel can accompany Robert, but will not be present when he is being questioned.
Robert hadn't been available for questioning on summons issued in connection to land transactions in Bikaner by Ms Skylight Hospitality, the firm linked to him. The investigation being conducted is part of a larger issue, commonly called the Bikaner land scam. Cases were registered and the Rajasthan government had cancelled the transfer of 374.44 hectares of land sold in various deals after it was found that land allotments were made in the name of fake persons.
The case against Vadra
- 126 bighas of govt land mutated in the names of two persons: Natha Ram and Hari Ram, who ED says, are fictitious
- 50 bighas of Natha Ram’s land sold to Rajendra Kumar Swami, who then sold it to Skylight Hospitality
- 75 bighas: Hari Ram executed sale deed in favour of Kishore Singh, who allegedly executed power of attorney in name of Ashok Kumar, who expedited sale of Natha’s land
- Rs 30 lakh Robert made out cheques to Ashok Kumar, alleged driver of Mahesh Nagar, the authorised representative of Skylight
Land bought by Skylight subsequently sold to Allegeny Finlease at a hefty profit
