Goa's Health Minister and Congress legislator Vishwajit Rane on Wednesday lodged a complaint against a fellow party man for forging job offer letters of the department and allegedly distributing it among youth in Valpoi constituency.
Rane lodged the complaint with the Election Commission against Venkatesh Desai, a former Congress minister, who is pitted against him in Valpoi for the party ticket.
Both have put their claims for the ticket for forthcoming Goa legislative assembly election scheduled on March 3. The health minister in his complaint before the commission has alleged that Desai had photo copied several offer letters by forging the letter heads of the department and had distributed them among the youth.
"He wants the EC should doubt me and debar me from contesting," Rane said.
The State health department is under EC scanner for allegedly offering appointment letters to new recruits violating election code of conduct.
Desai, when contacted, ruled out his involvement in distributing any offer letters.
"Rane is afraid that he might be caught by EC for violating the code of conduct and that is why he is shifting the responsibility," he added.
