Colonel Jamwal aims to be first Indian Army man to conquer seven summits

Colonel Ranveer Singh Jamwal is on a mission to climb the highest mountain of all seven continents. His final Frontier is Mt Vinson in Antarctica for which he is scheduled to depart on 25th December. The tentative date of reaching the summit is between 6-9 January, depending on the weather. He has already climbed Mt Everest, the highest mountain of Africa Mt Kilimanjaro, Mt Carstensz Pyramid in Australia,Mt Elbrus in Europe Mt Aconcagua in South Africa and Mt Denali in North America.

Col Jamwal has the distinction of climbing Mount Everest three times. He has done more than 30 expeditions across six continents. He is the only person in India to lead back to back three Everest expeditions and total 51 climbers have climbed Everest under his dynamic leadership.

In 2015 Col Jamwal and his team had rescued a team of climbers at Everest saving more than 60 lives."Mountaineering is my passion. I have lost my one finger once when I was doing a Himalayan Summit. I am very thankful of my family members who always stood with me ".Col Jamwal.

Col Jamwal is the proud recipient of highest adventure award of India, Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award. He was awarded along with Virat Kohli with many other prominent sport stars in 2013.

He has got 7 Awards from Army including the prestigious Vishisht Seva Medal twice. He got the highest award of J&K government, sher-e-Kashmir award for being an outstanding sportsperson. He was also declared the best mountaineer of India by Indian mountaineering foundation in 2017.
