The Chief Justice of India RM Lodha described the reported incident of a sexual harassment allegation of a Gwalior judge against a Madhya Pradesh High Court judge, as very serious issue and the same would be dealt appropriately. "It is a very serious issue. All versions will have to be taken into account. Let me go through it..." He said he would "deal with the issue appropriately" when the papers are placed before him as "the matter cannot be left like this", CJI said.

Urging the CJI to take immediate action against the Gwalior bench of MP high court judge, the women rights activists appealed all the MPs to move impeachment motion for removal of the judge for allegedly sexually harassing a woman subordinate judge leading her to resign from service on July 15.

They also demanded that the woman additional district district judge should be brought back to work by rejecting her resignation.

"We urge the CJI to set up immediately, in accordance with Vishaka guidelines, a permanent internal complaints committee with the mandatory presence of external members on it," said senior advocate Indira Jaising and sought transfer of all complaints against sitting and former judges for enquiry.
