With the polling for the first phase Bihar Assembly elections underway, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday called out to the people of the state to cast their vote in large numbers.
"Urging all those voting today in Bihar to vote in large numbers. I particularly urge my young friends to cast their vote," the Prime Minister tweeted. Polling for the first phase of the five-phase Bihar Assembly elections began earlier on Monday amid tight security in 49 constituencies spread over 10 districts.
Over 1.35 crore voters will decide the electoral fortune of 583 candidates, including 54 women in this phase. According to reports, most of the areas are naxal infested where the polling is underway and in view of this, central paramilitary forces have been deployed at every booth.
Prime Minister Modi will address a rally in Bhabua on Monday for which the grand alliance had lodged a complaint with the Election Commission (EC), saying that the rally's live telecast would be a violation of the model code of conduct.
