World’s highest paid comedian – Jim Carrey
Actor Jim Carrey has had the tag of the world’s highest paid comedian for about two decades. Ever since his siccess with films like The Mask and Liar Liar in the 90s, the actor began charging in millions of dollars. He entered Hollywood elite with Bruce Almighty and for the 2008 film Yes Man, he was paid $35 million (Rs 150 crore at that time, Rs 285 crore today). Even today, when his stardom has depleted singnificantly, the actor charges in excess of $15-20 million (Rs 130-160 crore) per film, higher than all Indian actors.
How Jim Carrey beat Holywood’s leading men
Jim Carrey’s $35 million payday in 2008 is still higher than anything the likes of Will Smith and Brad Pitt have earned for a single film. Will Smith’s highest salary has been $30 million for the 2021 film Emancipation whil Brad Pitt charged the same amount for Ocean’s Eleven back in 2001.
How much Indian actors charge per film
The highest-paid Indian actor is Thalapathy Vijay, who is reportedly charging Rs 200 crore for his upcoming film Leo. Apart from him, several top Indian actors – Shah Rukh, Salman, Prabhas – charge somewhere between Rs 120-150 crore for a film based on the profit share. Others like Aamir Khan and Rajinikanth also charge in excess of Rs 100 crore per film.
