Actor Bruce Willis has said that there is a book on heroism for action heroes and it includes not wearing underwear.

Willis, 55, who has portrayed police detective John McClane since 1988 in the Die Hard series, also said that the man has to be macho but also kind at the same time.

"You can't take yourself too seriously," the Daily Telegraph quoted him as saying.

"And with being an action star there's a handbook about heroism, whether it's a firefighter or a cop or anything. There's a set of values that come with it.

"You have to be a good friend, loyal and kind to animals. And kind to the director. You have to be brace and be able to cry on camera.

"Plus you have to share your thoughts, but only at gunpoint. You also have to be a good shot. And maybe wear no underwear," he added.
