Actor Shruti Haasan may be missing from Bollywood but the actor has had two back-to-back hits in the South — one in Telugu and the other in Tamil. Her Telugu film titled Gabbar Singh, which is a remake of the Salman Khan starrer Dabangg, has got her rave reviews, something she is really proud of.  Though the film is a remake, Shruti says the film has been altered to suit the Telugu audience. “I play a village belle in the film and a lot has been changed and altered. I saw Dabangg and totally loved it  and when we were doing the remake I had an inkling that the film would do well,” the pretty lass says.

Since she reprises actor Sonakshi Sinha’s role in the remake, comparisons are inevitable, but Shruti says she didn’t look at it like that. “There was no question of comparison because besides the fact that we play village belles, there is nothing common. Plus it was her debut film whereas it was my fifth film, where is the analogy?”asks Shruti.

Though she hasn’t been in Bollywood for too long, Shruti has quite a few fans, especially men who find her irresistibly sexy. Ask her about that and she lets out a laugh, “I am so flattered, really. I don’t know what to say. I am just happy and thankful to all my fans and all the praise coming my way.” Talking about men, we ask her if the recent link-up with the married South co-star Dhanush was upsetting and she brushes it aside by saying, “Not at all. It was really funny to say the least. It wasn’t upsetting and there was absolutely no awkwardness. If anything it has strengthened my bond with Dhanush and his wife, Aishwarya. It was wonderful to work with an adorable couple. All this talk about us was ridiculous and uncalled for. Some people think any publicity is good publicity, but I didn’t think we needed that when he had such a great product (film 3) in hand,” Shruti says.

With her film Gabbar Singh doing particularly well, Shruti says she’d always want to juggle Bollywood films with those in the South. “Films are films, irrespective of the language. I want to do good work and that is what I am here for,” she says. The actor who was also on a house-hunting spree has finally found herself a place she can call her own. “Yes, my search has come to an end. I finally have a place to myself in Mumbai. I have studied in Mumbai for a year and lived here for four years, so I am quite comfortable here. I have got myself a pad in Bandra, I guess I am a Bandra girl now,” she says.
