Rajini mania is not just restricted to India as Rajinikanth fans welcome 'Kaala' in theatres amidst fanfare across the globe.

While reports are abuzz that Thalaiva's latest release didn't live up to the expectations and garnered lesser collections on an opening day as compared to Rajinikanth film's releases in the past, Kaal has maintained its position at the box office and is showing little signs of slowing down. 

'Kaala' collections picked up on the second and third day of its release and has earned a total of about Rs 4.9 crore in Chennai itself. The film is doing well at international box office and has touched Rs 6.83 crore at the American box office. As per trade expert Ramesh Bala, filmmaker Pa Ranjith's film has crossed 100 crore gross at the box office worldwide. 

Kaala is doing extremely well in Australia and has become the second biggest opener, after 'Padmaavat'. Made on a huge budget of whopping 140 crores, Dhanush's production has earned Rs 230 crores from satellite and music rights before its release. 

'Kaala' has also become the first Indian movie to be released in Saudi Arabia after a ban on film was lifted in the country. 

 

 

Directed by Pa Ranjith, 'Kaala's is a political drama and revolves around a Dharavi-based don called Karikalan played by Rajini, who fights for the underprivileged people.

The film also stars Huma Qureshi, Nana Patekar, Pankaj Tripathi and Eswari Rao in important roles.
