Half Girlfriend has been commanding everyone's attention for the past few weeks. With the trailer having been released a few days ago and getting mixed to positive reviews from audiences amidst millions of views, the first look at the film's soundtrack is now out with the release of the first song from the movie, Baarish, sung by Ash King and Shashaa Tirupati.

However, we have to say, we honestly hoped for better from the song. While it is not bad in any sense, it isn't really something to hammer home about. On that note, here are three reasons why we feel the song didn't really click for us:

1. The video: While the video of Baarish is lifted from the film itself, it doesn't present the best or most exciting look at it. Half Girlfriend may be highly anticipated, but the video of the song is like any boring old typical boy-likes-girl story, where the girl is too good for the boy, which we have seen has worke dout well previously (like Meri Pyaari Bindu's Haareya), but usually is only worth a few Zzz's. Also, what is with Shraddha Kapoor's standing in the rain every time in the video like she's in a trance? Is she waiting for the water to wash her away, is she the Wicked Witch of the West, does the water make her a better basketball player? Who knows!

2. The lyrics: Again, the song is nothing remarkable. It doesn't seem to break any new ground with its themes of unrequited love, and the constant fact that every guy in a Bollywood song is an imp compared to the Goddess he's singing about. But the lyrics of the song are plain and cliched and build on the same old theme of rain and penchant for love. What do you expect with nonsensical lyrics like 'Hawaaon se tera pata poochta hoon'. We've heard of air-mail, but this is ridiculous!

3. Shraddha Kapoor: While we already said we weren't really fans of the video, we'd like to point out that Shraddha was probably one of the reasons why. Don't get us wrong, Shraddha, but this isn't really something you should be putting on your show-reel. Shraddha's acting in the snippet is wooden and most of the time, she just looks plain bored and would rather be anywhere else. In fact, her Queen Bee attitude reminds us of Alia Bhatt's Shanaya from Student of the Year, but at least Shanaya had personality. She didn't ask you to play against her at half-court as if it was the last thing she ever wanted to do.
