Rahul's comeback was nothing short of spectacular, marked by an exceptional performance in his return match against Pakistan, where he scored a century. Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir also commended Rahul's prowess at No.4, citing the stability he brings to the team.

Since his return, Rahul's batting statistics have witnessed a significant upswing. He has displayed remarkable adaptability and composure under pressure, bolstering India's batting lineup. At No.4, his batting average stands at an impressive 60, while at No.5, it remains a solid 50. Rahul himself has noted that there's little discernible difference between batting in these positions.

During the Asia Cup 2023, Rahul notched up a total of 169 runs in three innings, boasting an impressive average of 84.50. His standout performances against Pakistan and Sri Lanka played pivotal roles in India's success during the tournament.
In an interview with The Week, Yuvraj Singh recommended that India persist with KL Rahul at No.4 and afford him 15-20 matches in that position.

"India wants K.L. Rahul to bat at No. 4 now. They have to give him 15-20 games in that position. In the Asia Cup, coming back from injury, he scored a hundred. On a spinning track [in Colombo, against Sri Lanka], he scored a vital 39 runs. He is looking good right now, so they need to stick with him at No. 4."

Yuvraj, who himself has batted at the No.4 position in 108 matches during his career, stressed the significance of this spot, highlighting the need for the batsman to possess a high skill level. "No. 4 is a crucial position, especially if the openers get out cheaply. The No. 4 batsman needs to have the technique to leave the ball, play the short ball well, and aim to build partnerships."
