Mahendra Singh Dhoni led Team India to two World Cup victories during his tenure as the captain of the Indian cricket team. Their first victory was in the 2011 World Cup against Sri Lanka, during which he played with the world’s most expensive cricket bat.

While most of the cricket bats used by cricketers during international matches are in the range of Rs 4000 to Rs 10,000, the bat used by MS Dhoni during the 2011 World Cup is deemed special and was sold for a whopping price at an auction, becoming the world’s most expensive bat.

Before this, the most expensive cricket bat was Gray Nicolls Legend, made out of a special English willow and sold for the price of nearly Rs 1 lakh. MS Dhoni played with the most expensive cricket bat in the world during the final of the 2011 World Cup, against Sri Lanka.

MS Dhoni’s world cup winning bat was entered into the Guinness Book of World Records for being the most expensive cricket bat ever sold. Though the bat was similar to the ones Dhoni had previously used, it was sold for Rs 83 lakh during an auction.

MS Dhoni’s cricket bat in the 2011 World Cup was included in a charity auction called ‘East Meets West’ charity dinner and was sold for over 100,000 pounds (Rs 83 lakh) to RK Global Share and Securities LTD, according to a report by MensXP.

MS Dhoni has set multiple records throughout his highly celebrated cricket career, and it must be noted that at the beginning of his career, he struggled to get even one bat sponsorship. The world’s most expensive bat had landed a sponsorship with Reebok.

MS Dhoni has since retired from international cricket and only plays the Indian Premier League (IPL) as the captain of the Chennai Super Kings.
