It has been a disappointing campaign for Team India in the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021 losing both their games yet, against Pakistan and New Zealand pretty comfortably as their batters haven't been able to give a significant score to their bowlers to defend and hence now face Afghanistan in a dor-or-die clash.

Afghanistan, on the other hand, have impressed one and all with their cricket and just the determination after what all has transpired back home. They have stuck to their strength of batting first and then strangulating the opposition with their spinners. They have won two out of the three games and ran Pakistan close.

If India win the toss, they would bowl first, which they haven't done in the tournament so far, which works well with Afghanistan's game plan.

Head-to-head: 2 games; IND - 2, AFG - 0

India and Afghanistan have faced each other only twice in the T20Is and both games were in the T20 World Cup. Team India won both the encounters, first in the 2010 edition in the Caribbean, while second in the 2012 edition in Sri Lanka. The teams in blue will be facing each other for the first time in the shortest format in nine years.

Suresh Raina leads the most runs list

Former India batter Suresh Raina is the leading run-scorer in IND vs AFG games with 56 runs to his name, followed by skipper Virat Kohli, who scored a half-century in the only T20 game he has played against Afghanistan. Former Afghan batter Noor Ali Zadran also has a fifty to his name in one innings against India.

Ashish Nehra is the leading wicket-taker

Former India pacer Ashish Nehra is the leading wicket-taker in IND vs AFG T20 games with three scalps. He has the joint-most number of wickets along with Laxmipathy Balaji and Yuvraj Singh while off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, pacer Praveen Kumar and former Afghan pacer Shapoor Zadran have two wickets each.
