Having dominated the whole first day of the third Test at Headingley, the hosts England continued their batting innings from where they left at the stumps on Day 1. Rory Burns and Haseeb Hameed didn't let their guard down and put the bad balls away and kept their defence solid until Mohammed Shami's good length delivery with a hunt of reverse swing shattered Burns' stumps.

Hameed carried on his merry run before Ravindra Jadeja got the ball to turn away just a touch, enough to go past the right-hander's bat and take the off-stump giving India their second breakthrough of the day. Hameed was dismissed for 68 while Burns played a well-compiled knock of 61 runs.

After being recalled into the side after a gap of three years, Dawid Malan looked pretty confident and helped his side extend their lead. A couple of boundaries off Mohammed Siraj got the No 1 T20I batsman in the world going and he never looked back. Skipper Joe Root joined him and like the first two games, he started his innings in attacking fashion with a few back-to-back boundaries and England's lead went past 100.

Team India bowled better in the morning session on Day 2 than they did in the last session of the first day but the game was slipping from their hands quickly after they were bowled for just 78 runs in the first innings.

India went from 67/5 to 67/9 in a monumental collapse as many termed their batting display worse than the 36/9 embarrassment at Adelaide and eventually folded for 78 as James Anderson and Craig Overton picked up three wickets each while Sam Curran and Ollie Robinson took two wickets each.

At lunch, England were leading by 104 runs with eight wickets still in the bag.
