Struggles faced by Kalpana Saroj

Kalpana, a Maharashtrian police constable's daughter, spent her early teenage years living in a Mumbai slum with her husband's family. Her in-laws mistreated her physically and mentally before her father intervened to save her.

Kalpana attempted suicide at an early age because she had experienced severe mental anguish and was shunned by her villagers. However, she began working when she was 16 in order to support her family, which broadened her business approach.

In order to release Telugu, English, and Hindi films, she founded a production company named KS Film Production. By establishing contacts, she also grew her real estate firm. She soon began working with Kamani Tubes and eventually rose to the position of board member.

With the help of Kalpana Saroj's strong business acumen, Kamani Tubes was reorganized and put on a lucrative commercial trajectory despite experiencing significant losses. Currently, Saroj's business brings in more than Rs 100 crore.

Additionally, she is a member of the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore's board of governors. Kalpana Saroj estimates her own wealth and assets to be around $112 million, or roughly Rs 930 crore.
