Rohini Nilekani, the wife of Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani is one of India’s most generous women, according to EdelGive Hurun India Philanthropy List 2022. She has donated Rs 120 crore in the year 2021-22. 

The majority of the donations from Rohini went to causes related to ecology, sanitation, and education.

Nilekani stood at 11th position in the philanthropist list, followed by Leena Gandhi Tiwari of USV, who spent Rs 21 crore on social causes. 

The Rohini Nilekani Philanthropies are currently under the direction of Indian author and philanthropist Rohini Nilekani. She started her career as a journalist, working for prestigious publications. 

She was also a founding partner of the nonprofit educational platform EkStep as well as the nonprofit children's publisher Pratham Books. To promote national initiatives for sustainable water and sanitation, she also founded the Arghyam Foundation.

Rohini was raised in a middle-class household, where her mother worked as a homemaker and her father was an engineer. She earned a degree in French literature from Elphinstone College. 

According to corporate shareholdings records for December 31, 2022, Rohini Nilekani publicly holds 1 equity and with a net worth of over Rs. 4,878.0 crore, according to Trendlyne. The Nilekani family's net wealth is currently estimated by Rohini Nilekani Philanthropies to be $1.7 billion.
