Medium sugar prices firm up on fresh demand

Medium sugar prices firmed up at the Vashi wholesale market here today on fresh buying from retailers and stockists.
     
Meanwhile, small sugar variety displayed a mixed pattern of trading due to alternate bouts of buying and selling.
     
Medium sugar(M-30) gained by Rs5/14 per quintal to Rs2,760/2,891 from overnight closing level of Rs2,746/2,886. Small sugar(S-30) were quoted at Rs2,740/2,765 per quintal as against Rs2,731/2,800 yesterday.
     
The following are today's closing rates per quintal, with the previous rates in brackets:Medium sugar(M-30) quality Rs2,760/2,891 (Rs2,746/2,886) and Small sugar(S-30) quality Rs2,740/2,765 (Rs2,731/2,800).
