The Hitech expert team arrived on Wednesday to install DBOR (Doppler Berry Omni Range) and ILS Instrument Landing System to ensure the aircraft could land even amid thick fog, rain, and darkness at Kushinagar International Airport. After installing this system at the airport, the aircraft will be able to land in 550 meters of visibility.

Flight license to be inspected soon

The Director-General Civil Aviation (DGCA) team will visit once the system is installed. DGCA will issue licenses for the flight. After which the airline companies will apply for the flight. Pre-flight preparations at the airport are in the final stages. Flight of commercial aircraft can be started at any time after DGCA's approval on the preparations.

The team also included meteorological department experts. The Meteorological Department will put all the necessary equipment here. With which the ATC will get information about the weather conditions, forecast, etc. The team surveyed the place to install the system.

The team led by Joint General Manager Jagtar Singh included Deputy General Manager Manjit Singh, Assistant General Manager Ankur Singh, Mohammad Naseem Senior Manager Communication and Navigation, Meteorologist TB Singh.

This is how ILS works

According to experts, the landing aircraft pilot gets correct information from the altitude of 2360 feet with the help of ILS. This system is quite useful when the clouds are down in the rain, and there is less visibility due to fog in the cold. If this system does not exist, then the aircraft will have to come down to about 2000 feet.

UP's biggest runway

Kushinagar Airport has the distinction of being the largest runway in the runway of the state. The length of the runway of this airport is 3.2 km. In comparison, the size of the runway of the adjacent Gorakhpur Airport is 2.7 km. The length of Lucknow's runway is 2.6 km, and Prayagraj airport is 2.54 km.

Sanjay Narayan, General Manager Airport, said that work at the airport is in the last phase. The DGCA issued several standards and issues licenses. After getting the permit, the government will decide to start domestic and international flights.
