This Bollywood film that had two superstars, failed miserably at the box office.
Sometimes, even the star power in a film, fails to impress the audience and make a mark at the box office. Films like Adipurush, Shamshera, Kalank and others, failed miserably at the box office despite having superstars leading the fil. Another movie, that flopped also had two big names, but ended the career of the director.
The movie we are talking about was made on a budget of Rs 30 crore and received mixed reviews upon release from the audience as well as the critics. Despite starring Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi, the film turned out as a box office disaster. It is none other than Chehre.
Chehre is a mystery thriller film directed by Rumi Jaffery and produced by Anand Pandit with Saraswati Entertainment Private Limited. The film boasts of an ensemble cast including Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi in lead roles along with Krystle D'Souza, Rhea Chakraborty, Siddhanth Kapoor, Annu Kapoor, Alexx O'Nell, Samir Soni, Dhritiman Chatterjee and Raghubir Yadav in supporting roles.
The film faced delays because of the Pandemic, and when it finally released in theatres, it failed to make a a mark. Made in Rs 30 crore, the film collected only Rs 4.3 crore worldwide. The makers suffered a loss of Rs 26 crore and the film was Rumi Jaffery's last film till date.
Not only this, the film also starred Shakti Kapoor's son Siddhant Kapoor, who has since then not starred in any Bollywood film. However, he did star in an OTT film Aseq, which went largely unnoticed. Krystle D'Souza, who was one of the main characters in the film, has been away from the limelight since then and hasn't done any TV show or movies. Rhea Chakraborty also disappeared from Bollywood and made her comeback with the reality TV show, Roadies.
Meanwhile, Emraan Hashmi was last seen in the movie Tiger 3, which became a super-hit. He will be next seen in the movie OG. Amitabh Bachchan will be next seen in Kalki 2898 AD which also stars Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani along with others and is scheduled to release this year.
